The Medical Tourism University™ is a division of the Medical Tourism Association that promotes various educational and professional development for individuals and organizations involved in the medical tourism, medical travel, health tourism, and wellness travel industries.

The Medical Tourism Association® also referred to as Medical Travel Association, is the first membership based international non-profit trade association for the medical tourism and global healthcare industry. As a think tank and executive professional development body, the MTA is comprised of international hospitals, healthcare providers, medical travel facilitators, insurance companies, and other affiliated companies and members with the common goal of promoting the highest level of quality of healthcare to patients in a global environment. Each member of the MTA is dedicated to earning a designation either through the individual education programs offered by Medical Tourism University™, the Wellhotel® Program and the Global Healthcare Accreditation® Program

Any professional or organization providing services for or benefits to traveling patients is an appropriate client for these programs because every step of in the pathway of a patient is an important one. This includes healthcare providers, physicians, hoteliers, medical travel facilitators, travel agents, insurance agents, employers and benefits providers.

Medical travelers have unique needs and expectations that must be addressed in order to provide a high quality international patient experience.  There are clinical and non-clinical services that must be managed through different stages of the care process including but not limited to: pre-screening patients, travel arrangements, arrival at the destination, pre and post-operative stages, billing, medical record transfer and aftercare.

The purpose of our professional designations is to promote specific improvements in the protocols and services that impact the international patient experience, particularly, but not exclusively, from a non-clinical perspective. It provides a framework for good practice that covers the various situations that facilitators and healthcare providers may face in managing international patient care.

The Medical Tourism Association® recognizes that a certification of excellence in international patient services provides a tremendous benefit to the community at large, as well as regional, domestic and international patients. Adherence to high standards ensures that facilitators and medical providers are sensitive to the needs and expectations of traveling patients from diverse geographical, cultural and religious backgrounds.

As a designated medical tourism professional you will be recognized as an expert in your field and the go-to person for employers and buyers of healthcare seeking top quality talent and/or exceptional services for their customers.
